It has been a tough year, as we all know. I have not been very attentive to working on my blog and I am very sorry. So I will get started again and with God’s help, I will keep going and going until He tells me to stop.
First off I want to give Thanks to Jesus, He is Awesome and His Love abides with me Forever and through everything. If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus–I invite you to seek one NOW.
I know that for many of us 2020 was filled with fear. Let me be clear fear is not a spirit from GOD, it is an alien spirit to us if we are Christ-followers. However, I also know from real experience that it attaches and holds on if we let it.
It begins in our minds and can take over and become a stronghold very easily. There are several books available on the battlefield of our mind. Everything we do and say begins in the mind. We get our whole ATTITUDE from our minds.
So doesn’t it make sense that what we plant in our minds is what we will be? If we plant only good seeds and water those seeds with the Word of God we will grow and harvest good things. Our ATTITUDE will be a good one.
Unfortunately for all of us, this is not necessarily how things work. The world works in a completely different way all around us. It starts with little things and they get in our mind and the next thing we are growing ugly thoughts. It happens, but the good news is (oh, that was the bad news) we don’t have to let it stop and take root in our minds. WE CAN STOP IT—COLD.
We can stop for a second and remember GOD did not create me with a spirit of fear. He created women and men in His likeness. GOD has no spirit of fear. NO FEAR IN GOD!
Fear comes from the outside—it is a learned response to a situation, a person, a perceived event that often is something we “think” might or could happen. It seeps into us like smoke from deadly fire and suffocates us. It paralyzes the rational part of our minds.
It makes us afraid of life, afraid to use our GOD-given gifts and talents. It steals our Joy, our unique abilities to be who we are as GOD created us to be. It stops us from reaching out to others in Love. Fear steals our LOVE.
That is the bad news—
THE GOOD NEWS— Faith and Love Blast fear! They win, they smash that little bug of fear to pieces.
EPHESIANS 6:13-18 (Today’s English Version TEV) So put on God’s armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy’s attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.
So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate, and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of peace. At all times carry faith as a shield for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One. And accept salvation as a helmet and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you. Do all this in prayer, asking for God’s help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason, keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God’s people. (highlights mine)
Can it be that easy? I hear you thinking it. Easy NO, but simple YES. I say simple but it takes FAITH on your part. Or maybe it should be Easy YES, but simple NO. Or maybe Easy YES, simple YES?
Can I blow the smoke of fear to nothingness? I can if I LET GOD DO IT. I take the thoughts of fear and defeat captive in the name of JESUS. He already dealt with that fire at the cross. I use my shield of FAITH and the word of God to stand my ground and blow that smoke away.
PSALM 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by the streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prosper. (NIV)
So if we meditate on the word of God, read it. Take a verse that speaks to you and pull it into you, chew on it, bring it to mind, write it down. Speak it out loud, take it apart word for word and learn it. Let it marinate in you, and bring it back again and again and again. Let it seep into you so that your space is filled with the richness of God’s word and there is not space, no room for the smoke of fear in your mind.
Our minds are the most excellent computer ever conceived—conceived by GOD. Yes, some are more excellent than others in certain areas–BUT GOD. GOD created us in HIS image and HE is excellence bar none.
NO fear, NO worries if we operate in GOD’S word. Such wonder-filled news— GOOD NEWS!
